RPTFE Teflon – What's the Difference and Connection?

Understanding the Link Between RPTFE and Teflon

Teflon® is a well-known registered trademark of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), first developed by DuPont (now Chemours). It represents the pure, unfilled form of PTFE, renowned for its chemical resistance, non-stick properties, and thermal stability.

RPTFE, or Reinforced PTFE, refers to Teflon that has been modified with fillers such as glass fiber, carbon, bronze, or silica to enhance its mechanical strength, wear resistance, and creep resistance. While Teflon is the brand, RPTFE is a material class that builds upon PTFE's base properties by customizing it for industrial applications under more demanding conditions.

In short:

PTFE (Teflon) = base polymer, pure

RPTFE = modified PTFE with fillers (including but not limited to Teflon base)

RPTFE retains PTFE's chemical inertness but is mechanically stronger, more dimensionally stable, and suitable for high-load applications, such as valve seats, gaskets, seals, and insulators

Product Applications

Applications of RPTFE Derived from Teflon:

  • Cryogenic seals (LNG, LOX, LIN)
  • Ball and butterfly valve seats
  • High-temperature gaskets
  • Static and dynamic seals in oil & gas, chemical, and food processing industries

A1: Yes, we provide CO, Form E, and FTA certificates upon request to support tariff reduction under applicable trade agreements.

Q2: What Incoterms do you support?

A2: We typically offer FOB Shanghai, CIF destination port, DAP for special cases. EXW and DDP are also available depending on your location and order volume.

Q3: Do you offer MOQ for RPTFE parts?

A3: Standard items (gaskets/seats): MOQ 50 pcs
Custom machined parts: MOQ based on part size and design (as low as 10 pcs for trial orders)

Q4: What are the accepted payment terms?

A4: T/T 30% in advance, 70% before shipment (standard)
L/C at sight (for large orders)
Alibaba Trade Assurance and PayPal (for small prototype orders)

Q5: Can you provide third-party inspection or testing?

A5: Yes. We work with SGS, BV, TUV, and local testing labs for mechanical, sealing, or chemical performance validation.

Q6: What is the lead time for a bulk order?

A6: Standard RPTFE sheets/rods/gaskets: 7–10 days
Custom-machined parts: 12–18 working days depending on complexity

Q7: Can you print our logo or brand on the parts or packaging?

A7: Absolutely. We offer OEM branding including laser marking, engraving, and custom packaging design for bulk customers.
